The State Bar of South Dakota has over 3,000 members and 1,800 active in-state members. The State Bar is responsible to the South Dakota Supreme Court for the admission and discipline processes for all South Dakota attorneys. The SBSD also provides continuing legal education and other member services at no cost to our membership.

An elected Board of Bar Commissioners will govern and manage the business and affairs of the State Bar. The Board has all the power and authority necessary or appropriate for the administration of State Bar affairs consistent with Supreme Court rule, South Dakota Law, and these Bylaws.
