The hinge has a pivot to it, meaning it is not a true one-to-one swing like most of the mechanical/gear driven braces. It has a sweep to it (similar to the CTi) that allows the lower frame to swing slightly under the upper frame giving it a natural motion. This is hands down the slimmest knee brace in the test. By far.
The dam CTI knee pads dug into my skin. You get used to the step in design of the DJ's. My boot buckles up the same way it would with any other knee/shin guards. I think they are the only brace company that offers to pay you something if you jack up your knee again. Whatever braces you get they will tear up your pants and graphics. |
I keep getting a Facebook ad from RXR Protect about the Xcrossed knee braces they have for $199/pair. They look like knock-off Donjoy braces, almost exactly. I have pods now and love them, but just curious, does anyone have any experience with...
For 95% of population you will need to see a doctor for a prescription. You will need to have a reason to need a knee brace and the doctor will need to document that in your notes. If you want two braces you will need two separate notes from the doctor. Your insurance will also play a big role on the type of brace you get.
While researching braces I came across a video of Tony Cairoli promoting DonJoy custom-carbon braces. On a whim, I called DonJoy who put me in touch with the local sales rep. They had a great deal so I bought them. For $850 you get 2 sets of braces (4 total). The rep came to my house and measured my legs. I gave her a check and they arrived a ...
My doc wrote my son a prescription for a set of Donjoy knee braces for football because he "chronic knee pain" and "excessive movement" in his knees. Basically he prescribed them as a preventative measure. Our insurance company said ok with no questions.
6/18/2012 11:24 AM. Had knee surgery Jan. 18, 2012 and hope to take my first ride back next weekend. Doctor prescribed a knee brace for riding and I paid $100; insurance paid the rest. This is the brace I received. It also has a MX specific knee guard that can be added/removed so the brace can be used for other sports.
1. My knee braces are rubbing my hamstring tendon in the back of my knee raw. Ocer the last 16 years I’ve wore braces from Custom DonJoy’s to Custom CTi’s and they all do it. (I have Custom Cti’s currently) I’ve tried loosening the strap below the knee joint, (even though the custom braces fit perfectly, too loose of the strap below ...
I had no problem getting a fancy $3000 carbon fiber CTi brace following a tibial platea fracture. Surely, your ortho will sign off on one for ACL injury. You may only be able to get one covered by insurance though - the one injured knee. They generally don't cover preventative stuff.
Fantasy. 67th. 5/15/2023 2:36am. The worst ones are the big bulky ones that you would call “braces”. You know the ones that cost a shitload and then you end up tearing/breaking your knee whether you were wearing it or not….the best ones are what most people call “pads”. They usually cost about $100.
