The grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis), also known as the North American brown bear or simply grizzly, is a population or subspecies [4] of the brown bear inhabiting North America. In addition to the mainland grizzly ( Ursus arctos horribilis ), other morphological forms of brown bear in North America are sometimes identified as grizzly bears.
Ursus arctos arctos – Eurasian brown bear or European brown bear. The most widespread subspecies in Europe, as well as their range in Western Russia and the Caucasus. May be found as far east in Russia as the Yenisei River in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug to Novosibirsk Oblast in the south, where the subspecies intergrades into U. a. collaris.
The brown bear is a sexually dimorphic species, as adult males are larger and more compactly built than females. The fur ranges in color from cream to reddish to dark brown. It has evolved large hump muscles, unique among bears, and paws up to 21 cm (8.3 in) wide and 36 cm (14 in) long, to effectively dig through dirt.

The Left skull is from Colorado's last known Grizzly Bear, killed in Self-Defence in the San Juan Mountains in 1979. The Right skull belongs to one of the two Alaskan Brown Bears located in the Unimak Island diorama, which the skulls are located next to.
