The Roman Gradual (Latin: Graduale Romanum) is an official liturgical book of the Roman Rite of the Roman Catholic Church containing chants, including the proper and many more, for use in Mass. The editio typica dates from 1908. [1] The latest edition of 1974 takes account of the 1970 revision of the Roman Missal.
The Mass was well received by many US Catholic cleric and is said to have furthered their acceptance of Sacrosanctum Concilium. [4] Mary Lou Williams, a Black Catholic composer, had completed her own Mass, Black Christ of the Andes (also known as Mary Lou's Mass) in 1962 and performed it that November at St. Francis Xavier Church in Manhattan.
Jubilate Deo is a small hymnal of Gregorian chant in the Latin Rite of the Catholic Church, produced after the liturgical reforms of Vatican II. It contains a selection of chants used in the Mass and various liturgies (e.g. Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament), as well as Marian antiphons and seasonal hymns.
It was first published posthumously in A Selection of Psalms and Hymns for the Parish Church of Banbury (Third Edition, 1826), and thereafter by the writer's widow in Hymns Written and Adapted to the Weekly Church Service of the Year (1827), [2] one of the first hymnals to group their hymns by the liturgical occasion within the church year. Gotteslob ("Praise of God") is the title of the hymnbook authorized by the Catholic dioceses in Germany, Austria, South Tyrol, Luxembourg and Liège, Belgium.First published in Advent 2013, it is the current official hymnal for German-speaking Catholics, succeeding the first common German hymnal, the 1975 edition of the same name.
