Pontins is a British company operating holiday parks in the UK, founded in 1946 by Fred Pontin.It was acquired by Britannia Hotels in 2011. [1]Pontins specialises in offering half-board and self-catering holidays featuring entertainment at resorts, or "holiday parks", as they have branded them.
After initial adult-only offerings at Bembridge, Corton and Lakeside, with their other camps remaining family-orientated, Warner Holidays became adult-only in 1994. Mill Rythe, Lyme Bay and Harcourt Sands were transferred to Haven Holidays; all three were later sold. Lyme Bay and Harcourt Sands closed down in the early 2000s.
By 1996 Haven had reached 49 holiday parks under its banner and parks divided into three different categories; All Action Centres, Family Parks and Character Villages, [5] five parks now offered Full and Half board holidays these were Caister, (the only All Action Centre to so), Mill Rythe, Harcourt Sands, Lyme Bay and Duporth.
