The Marxist–Leninist Party, USA (MLP) was an anti-revisionist Marxist–Leninist communist party arising out of a series of communist and workers' groups that began in 1967 and lasted until 1993 when it dissolved.
The Communist Party (Marxist–Leninist)'s predecessor organization, the October League (Marxist–Leninist), was founded in 1971 by several local groups, many of which had grown out of the radical student organization Students for a Democratic Society when SDS split apart in 1969.
After the expulsion, two groups existed with the name Communist Party USA (Marxist–Leninist), one led by Arnold Hoffman, which continued to publish People's Voice; and one led by Laski, which started a new paper, The New Worker. In 1969, the Laski group merged with the Proletarian Revolutionary Party led by Jonathan Leake. [5]

He held a leading influence in the Marxist–Leninist Party, USA in the 1970s, although it later split from the CPC(M-L) and dissolved in 1993. Some remnants of the MLP USA loyal to Bains formed the US Marxist-Leninist Organization in the 1980s. Left publications such as Modern Communism have written articles on his legacy. [11]

The party has since adopted Marxism–Leninism within its program. [6] In 2014, the new draft of the party constitution declared: "We apply the scientific outlook developed by Marx, Engels, Lenin and others in the context of our American history, culture, and traditions."
