  3. Why German cars still so popular? : r/germany - Reddit

Whereas US mechanics might be less familiar (and maybe not as well trained). Another factor is that cars in Germany are driven way less miles/Kilometers compared to the US. So cars in Germany often reach the end of their life because of rust but not because of engine or transmission failures as I would expect in the US.

  4. What Happened To Quality German Cars? - Deutsche Welle : r/cars -...

In the US, German cars have the opposite problem: they have to overcome a reputation for being unreliable. I'll use BMW as an example. In the E36 and E46 era they were terrible, those models were known for having cooling systems made of jellybeans, rear subframes made of Swiss cheese, and questionable electronics and build quality.

  5. My take on reliability on german cars. : r/cars - Reddit

    www.reddit.com/.../my_take_on_reliability_on_german_cars

orangebikini. •. I’ve had two German cars. A W123 and a 1st gen Vito, might be W638 IIRC. The former was literally the most robust and reliable car I’ve ever owned, besides a bit of rust problems. The latter was one of the most unreliable cars I’ve ever owned, with constant turbo problems and electrical bugs.

  6. Why are German cars considered 'unreliable' in some countries?

    www.reddit.com/r/germany/comments/zkm7dw/why_are_german...

Bissfestes_Wasser47. • 2 yr. ago. It depends. Brands like Mercedes, BMW and Audi are expensive and for most people unreliable. Good cars but expensive. More reliable brands are VW and Opel for example. German cars are good, Germany builds some of the best cars in the world so I don’t understand why people tell you german cars a crap.

  7. Why German cars are still considered reliable? : r/cars - Reddit

Hallingdal_Kraftlag. •. I'm pretty much convinced that the reason people think German cars are reliable is simply because they have never owned a Japanese car. Reply reply. kobrons. •. There's a German YouTube channel of some mechanics and they had to replace the front shocks on an Aygo.

  8. Why are German cars considered unreliable in the USA?

    www.reddit.com/r/whatcarshouldIbuy/comments/12xt0qx/why...

It’s because German cars are not as reliable as Japanese cars but cost far more to repair and maintain that American or Japanese cars. Not to mention they tend to run on high octane gas or diesel which is far more expensive than the low octane fuel American and Japanese cars usually use. Reply reply.

  9. What specifically makes German cars so expensive to maintain?

    www.reddit.com/r/cars/comments/4yowx6/what_specifically...

German cars are still reliable in the sense that they will last a long time if properly repaired maintained. The chassis remains solid and major components tend to be bulletproof, but it costs a bunch of money to fix the random stuff that goes wrong. Usually electronics. My daily driver is an Audi.

  10. Do Germans buy German Cars in Germany. : r/cars - Reddit

    www.reddit.com/r/cars/comments/khvq3b/do_germans_buy...

Q&A. Stunning-Leek334. •. Yes they buy them a lot, not just in Germany but all of Europe. But keep in mind the entry level German cars there are not the same as the entry level German cars here. A basic car there is like a basic Ford here. We get the higher end models. Reply reply. Stunning-Leek334.

  11. Are German used cars reliable? What issue should I expect, and...

    www.reddit.com/r/askcarguys/comments/1dejhjs/are_german...

With that being said, I love the aesthetic of the German cars. I've heard used Audis are horrible, and that Mercedes tends to be better. Not sure how true this is. Personally, I love the design of Audis but I dread having to do constant maintenance and burning 1000s on a 10+ year old car. I do not mind buying an older car if it is reliable.
