The Foothills Trail is a mostly paved non-motorized rail-trail in east Pierce County, Washington, extending uninterrupted for 21 miles (34 km) from Puyallup, Washington through Orting and South Prairie, and terminating in Buckley. The trail is used by cyclists, walkers, joggers, inline skaters, and horse riders.
Mount Rainier as seen from the High Cedars Golf Course in Orting, bordering the Puyallup River. The city sits in a fertile valley between two major rivers, the Carbon and Puyallup. It is built entirely on several layers of lahar deposits. Orting is located about 30 mi (48 km) from Mount Rainier.
The four-lane freeway travels east over Milwaukee Avenue to a trumpet interchange with SR 512, where the concurrency with SR 161 ends. SR 167 gains a set of auxiliary lanes and enters a long curve to the north along the Puyallup River in Sumner, where it meets the west end of SR 410 near the city's train station.
