The Fifth Doctor is an incarnation of the Doctor, the protagonist of the British science fiction television series Doctor Who.He is portrayed by Peter Davison. [4]Within the series' narrative, the Doctor is a centuries-old alien Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey who travels in time and space in the TARDIS, frequently with companions.
He subsequently played the fifth incarnation of the Doctor in Doctor Who from 1981 to 1984. Davison's other starring roles included the sitcoms Holding the Fort (1980–1982) and Sink or Swim (1980–1982), Dr. Stephen Daker in A Very Peculiar Practice (1986–1988), and Albert Campion in Campion (1989–1990).
The incumbent Fifteenth Doctor is played by Ncuti Gatwa, who took over the role from David Tennant following the conclusion of "The Giggle" (2023). Outside of television many actors have played the Doctor on in various BBC -licensed spin-offs on television, stage, radio, film, audio plays, and webcasts.
Brian Blessed was offered the role, but declined because of scheduling conflicts; he later played King Yrcanos in the Sixth Doctor serial The Trial of a Time Lord.
