Smithville is a city in DeKalb County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 5,004 at the 2020 census, [7] up from 3,994 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of DeKalb County. [8] Smithville is home to the Smithville Fiddler's Jamboree, which it has hosted annually since 1972. [9]

Gates Phillips Thruston (June 11, 1835 – December 9, 1912) was an American lawyer and businessman. Born in Ohio, he served in the Union Army during the American Civil War and started a legal practice in Nashville, Tennessee in the reconstruction era.
The Susie Foster Log House, at 810 College St. in Smithville, Tennessee, is a log house which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 2007. The NRHP listing included two contributing buildings.
