ATA Martial Arts, formerly known as the American Taekwondo Association (ATA), was founded in 1969 in Omaha, Nebraska by Haeng Ung Lee of South Korea. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] ATA Martial Arts has been headquartered in Little Rock , Arkansas since 1977, and presided over by M.K. Lee since July 2022.

Edward B. Sell (July 17, 1942 - February 5, 2014) was an American martial arts instructor, and the highest ranking non-Korean practitioner of tae kwon do, holding the honorary rank of 10th degree black belt in the art. [1] Sell founded the U.S. Chung Do Kwan Association.
Today at age 89 Kang still teaches and is the Chairman of the All American Tae Kwon Do Federation (AATF) and the World Tae Kwon Do Chung Do Kwan Federation. His Tae Kwon Do system continues to grow through the teachings of his 3 sons, all of whom are masters themselves and have their own schools and organizations as well.
