Louis Szathmary (born Lajos István Szathmáry II [1] June 2, 1919 – October 4, 1996) was a Hungarian-American chef, writer, and public personality.A pioneering force in the food service profession, he is best known for heading the Chicago restaurant The Bakery and writing the New York Times bestseller The Chef's Secret Cookbook.
In 1987, he became chef/owner of his namesake restaurant, Bouley, in Tribeca overlooking Duane Park, which earned a four-star review in the New York Times and won several James Beard Foundation awards, including Best Restaurant and Best Chef. [citation needed] In 1997, Bouley moved and reopened as the Bouley Bakery.
Bouchon (also known as Bouchon Bistro) is a French-style restaurant with locations in Yountville, California and Las Vegas. The restaurant was founded by Thomas Keller in 1998.
