Using the boat as a mold, we tape a couple of layers of 2 inch masking tape, apply mold release, laminate 4 layers of bixal fabric, remove, bond the balsa core and finish with 2 more layers of bi ax. If your in your driveway just use roving, and plywood cut in strips to follow the form fill the voids with thickened resin and laminate the final ...

  3. Towing with a rental truck? | Sailing Anarchy Forums

    forums.sailinganarchy.com/threads/towing-with-a-rental-truck.215409

U-Haul has no problem towing boats or other things if you tell them first. I tow mine (2500 lb boat and trailer) twice a year locally with an F150. if you are going long distance they may require a larger truck. When towing from DC to MA they required that I use a 20ft truck to tow that distance. get their insurance and no repercussions

Yea I have a good double deck thistle trailer. The cool part about this trailer is the engineering. You roll one boat onto the trailer on its dolley, then you use the crank at the front of the trailer to crank the whole rig up. After that you slide boat #2 underneath.

  5. Searching for a used trailer | Sailing Anarchy Forums

Thinking about (yet another) boat. Have found one for sale without a trailer so I also have to find a used trailer. Looking for recommendations on where / how to look for the trailer. The boat in question is 21 feet, 2,000 lbs, 3.75 foot draft. Essentially I need a single axle J/22 trailer preferably with surge brakes.

The boat trailer part seems pretty easy, it is the placement of the bunks compared to the boat is what I am looking for. and how far apart are they? Overall length of the trailer would be good too. Can someone please send me a crude sketch or pics with measurements please!!! Thanks in advance, and happy sailing!

  7. Hobie 33 Trailering Question - Sailing Anarchy Forums

For the lifting keel, there are linked bolted to the top of the keel that settle over bolts in the boat then nuts secure it. Just remove the links from the keel and it should slid out of the bottom. Trying to think about a tilted boat and trailer combo in a container my mind only comes up with M. C. Escher drawing drawings.

  8. Anyone ever towed a boat to Mexico? | Sailing Anarchy Forums

    forums.sailinganarchy.com/threads/anyone-ever-towed-a-boat-to-mexico.209072

IMPORTANT!!! Tell them you want a 10 year permit for both trailer and boat. If you only do 6 months, and leave the boat, you'll lose your deposits on boat, trailer and tow vehicle and your tow vehicle will be banned from Mexico for life. This happened to us once. Our truck is totally bummed it can't come back to Mexico. Have fun!

  9. Moving a J-105 around - Sailing Anarchy Forums

depends on the trailer but figure 12,500 for boat, gear and trailer. You will be just under 66 ft overall if you have a f250 crew cab long bed towing(22' with hitch). Specify 8' rear overhang, zero front overhang. But its the width, not length, that makes in oversize in most states.

  10. Boat Buying Dilemma - Sailing Anarchy Forums

The Noelex 30 is an awesome boat and can live on a trailer - mast up very easily. Good cruising volume and sails like a witch in the light while still ok in a breeze. The self tacker works really well and means a=you can solo sail while cruising. Unfortunately they are worth the money.

  11. Tow a J35 | Sailing Anarchy Forums

    forums.sailinganarchy.com/threads/tow-a-j35.2400

    1) The towing capacity of the F350 must exceed 14000 lbs as this would be the approximate weight of the boat and trailer. That is a lot of weight. 2) The overall height of the boat is an issue.., some deck gear must be removed.., bow and stern pulpits.., and even the cabin top winches can be an issue. 3) You will most likely require permits.
