From March 1, 2022, onwards, the International Skating Union banned all figure skaters and officials from Russia and Belarus from attending any international competitions following the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. [2] As a result, all skaters were required to qualify through the Russian Grand Prix and the All-Russian competitions' series.
In the 2023–24 season, Russian skaters completed in domestic qualifying events and national championships for various age levels. Russian Grand Prix for senior skaters and the All-Russian competitions for junior skaters, leads to four events – the Russian Championships, the Russian Junior Championships, the Spartakiad of the Top Athletes and the All-Russian final competitions "Federation Cup".
The 2024–25 figure skating season began on July 1, 2024, and will end on June 30, 2025. During this season, elite skaters will compete at the ISU Championship level at the 2025 European Championships , Four Continents Championships , World Junior Championships , and the World Championships .

The ice dance competition of the 2014 Winter Olympics was held at the Iceberg Skating Palace in Sochi, Russia. The short dance was held on 16 February and the free dance on 17 February. [1] The competition was won by Meryl Davis and Charlie White from the United States. This was the first time the U.S. had won a gold medal in ice dance.
