Location:La Place, LA. Posted December 15, 2011. Here is a pdf I created with all my test data for the Bayou Bullets in various 9mm pistols. Some polymer pistols tested good in the Ransom Rest, but the XDM didn't. I'll be doing some more test with new bench rest and merit optical device on my glasses so I can compare my old reading to my new ...
I want to purchase at least 1500 9mm coated bullets, trying to decide between Bayou 120 gr TCG and Precision Bullets 125 gr Flat Point, to be used in M&P pistols, 1 with an Apex barrel other with OEM barrel. I know the "right" thing is to order a few of each, load and compare results but would like to get feedback from folks that have used ...
I'm shooting Bayou Bullets 180's out of my Springer SSTK, but loaded with Ramshot Competition. Talk to Donnie before using TG. The burn temp of TG may have the same effect as on black moly-coateds. After all the super secret green gator snot is still a coating. I've already shot about 2000 9mms and 1000 40s and haven't noticed any leading.
I like Bayou bullets (except for the smell when fired). The batch I received were very consistent. I also have Acme and BBI on my shelf. They are all good. I still prefer the Precision Bullets. I've moved away from poly coated bullets, because none except the Bayou with the bevel base will feed through my LnL bullet feeder die.
Posted January 22, 2017. 1,000 of their 150gr SWC 9mm in my garage. I'm already 1000 rounds into the 6,000 bullet purchase. Other than them all weighing 147-148 grains, which is not a factor since it's consistent, they are pretty much unremarkable in a good way. They also don't leave holes that are any cleaner than a flat-point 9mm bullet, but ...
You will also use a lighter charge (weight) with a faster burning powder (in general). My IDPA 9mm load is 3.3g Titegroup with a 147g plated bullet. Plated is close to a coated bullet of the same weight as far as deciding on the initial charge weight. I have an indoor practice 9mm load that uses 115g plated bullets.
I used to shoot a lot of the bayou 135gr RN bullets for 3gun and uspsa using Titegroup. I recently switched to 147gr FP blue bullets and N320. It's a great combo. The reason I tried the blues, is I started chasing my tail with bayou bullets and the coating getting shaved upon seating, which created some minor leading issues.
Looking to try something a bit out of the box and hoping someone could chime in with some expertise. So I'm looking to load a 150gr LSWC. This is probably developed for .38 super or .38 spl. but I'm looking to use it for IDPA in my 9mm. This will be shot out of a 5" ramped barrel. Hoping that the...
5.6k. Gender:Male. Location:Conroe, Texas. Posted April 2, 2014. I had the opportunity to run the chrono at the Texas Open this past weekend. One competitor shooting Production advised that he was using 160 gr 9mm bullets made by Bayou Bullets. Checked their website and sure enough, they are there.
The Bayou 120 gr/Acme 122 gr bullets may need to be loaded a little shorter due to the squatter profile. I've loaded the Acme 122gr bullet as short as 1.025 OAL with 3.6gr WSF with no issues or pressure signs in 9mm Glocks. At that OAL, there's about 1/16" of bearing surface visible above the case mouth. It's a very soft shooting, consistent load.
