Initial D (Japanese: 頭文字 （ イニシャル ） D, Hepburn: Inisharu Dī) is a Japanese street racing manga series written and illustrated by Shuichi Shigeno.It was serialized in Kodansha's seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Magazine from 1995 to 2013, with the chapters collected into 48 tankōbon volumes.
Its first installment, Shutokō Battle '94: Drift King, was released in 1994 for the Super Famicom, while the latest installment is Shutokou Battle Xtreme, for iOS and Android in 2017; in 2024, Genki announced a new entry, the first console racing game in 18 years, for PC, with a planned 2025 release.
The published game was a wholly separate development, begun under license from the film studio. It is considered a spiritual successor to 2004's Street Racing Syndicate , which was also developed by Eutechnyx and published by Namco, and with which it shares many themes and gameplay elements.
In this game, there are three songs which also used from Arcade Stage Ver.3/Street Stage and only a song from Arcade Stage Ver.2/Special Stage with new songs. The ending theme of this game is Gamble Rumble (7th Stage Version) by m.o.v.e., the first theme remix of Initial D Third Stage, Arcade Stage Ver.2/Special Stage and Arcade Stage Ver.3.
Tokyo Xtreme Racer: Drift (known as Kaidō Battle: Nikko, Haruna, Rokko, Hakone in Japan) is the third racing game published by Crave Entertainment for the PlayStation 2. It is the fourth main installment in Shutokō Battle series. The game allows racing at both day and night.
The game features a selection of 218 licensed Japanese and European cars. [2] There are also several parodies of cars from anime and manga titles like Initial D, Wangan Midnight and Over Rev!. [3] Unlike past games in the franchise, American manufacturers have been completely omitted.
