Hello folks, I have two Colt SP1's....1981 and 1983. Both in at least 95/98% condition, no original boxes, only 20 round Colt mags. #SP148968 and #SP201535 What are the current values of these? I know the Colt remake is upwards of $2,500.00 and is not even made by Colt..... I appreciate your replies. Thank you and stay safe.

Hey gents, I'm outta my league a bit on the retro or collector stuff, but I want my damn KISS Colt back, and am at a gunshow staring at a beautiful, almost flawless looking SP1 carbine. Looks to be shot, but very little. Perhaps the nicest non NIB SP1 Ive seen fwiw. No box, no papers, no accs., 1 mag, and the OEM sling. Sticker is $2350.

Well I was kinda talking about AR-15 SP-1's like the ones in this post. The pic's show an SP-1 with a serial number in the 3000's. I have seen them with numbers in the 6000's and 4000's. Could these be called or considered "Curtis LeMay" rifles.
If and when the economy improves, the high priced guns will start moving again and the values will go up. There are 4 on Guns America, $1400, $1600, $1900 and $2700. The Vets are nice, but I would find another way to come up with the money for one.

People buy Colt SP1s for a reason. It is a classic AR-15. They are popular with collectors and shooters. Most shooters will not spend that kind of money to get an early SP1. They will spend $1000-$1500 for a nice shooter grade SP1. Personally, I paid $1000 for my 1977 SP1 Sporter. It is in excellent condition.
