Eero Aarnio (born 21 July 1932) is a Finnish designer, noted for his innovative furniture designs in the 1960s, such as his plastic and fibreglass chairs. [1] He was born in Helsinki. Puppy toy by Eero Aarnio at the Googleplex, 2008. Aarnio studied architecture at the Institute of Industrial Arts in Helsinki and graduated in 1960.

Related to the Egg is the Swan chair and, to some degree, many of Jacobsen's plywood chairs such as "7", the Ant, the Cigar, the Grand Prix-chair, the Pot, the Drop and the Giraffe. The Egg (like the Swan) was also designed as a couch.
