Azimut Yachts is an Italian yacht manufacturing company based in Viareggio, Italy.It was established in 1969 by Paolo Vitelli. [3] On December 31, 2024, Paolo Vitelli died suddenly on the spot following a fall near his home in Ayas, Aosta Valley, in the frazione of Mascognaz.

The company’s main contribution to the war effort was the Air-Sea Rescue Boat. Two types of these vessels were built, a 63-foot (19 m) and a 104-foot (32 m) . With 12-cylinder engines, they were designed to race out to crash sites and rescue wounded men, and hence were also known as “crash boats.”

In 2012, the company began construction of a 450,000 square feet (42,000 m 2) climate controlled manufacturing facility on Tellico Lake, close to Knoxville, Tennessee, capable of construction of yachts of over 200 feet (61 m) in composite or steel. To this date this building has not been completed and sits unfinished.
The company has had a long relationship with American boat designer Ed Monk, jr son of the legendary Ed Monk, sr. [4] The current President of Ocean Alexander is Alex’s son John Chueh. [5] Ocean Alexander closed their Chinese yard in 2013. [6] In 2018 70% of yachts produced by Ocean Alexander were for American customers. [5]
In 2014, the modern replacement for the long-keel Ruster 36 was introduced. Although the Rustler 36 is still available, the Rustler 37 offers increased hull volume and an encapsulated long fin keel, instead of the long keel on the Kim Holman design. Its largest yachts to date is the Rustler 57, launched in 2019 (2021).
