In 1836, members migrated to this area and, on January 11, 1841, the church was renamed College Presbyterian Church in recognition of the founding of the North Mississippi College. In 1842, the congregation paid $400 for 23 acres (93,000 m 2 ) of land on which to construct a public place of worship.

Cedarville College was chartered in 1887 by the New Light Reformed Presbyterian Church; at the time, the surrounding township was largely Presbyterian. The first classes were held in 1892, though the college did not officially open until 1894. David McKinney was the college's first president. [4]
The area was first recognized by the city as a local historical neighborhood in 1974, via the City of Dayton Ordinance #24688. [3] [2] St. Anne's Hill was registered on the National Register of Historic Places (No. 86001214) in 1986. [4] The designated area is bounded by Fourth, McClure, Josie, and High and Dutoit Streets.
