    I don't think either Democrats or Republicans would like to be associated with pink or yellow for their obvious connotations (i.e. Pinko, Pink elephant, Yellow journalism, Yellow dog Democrat, "Yellow belly", etc, etc). The colours aren't necessarily offensive but they may affect the reader in the same way the color of campaign signs affect them.
