Dil Se.. (lit. ' From the Heart.. ') is a 1998 Indian Hindi-language romantic thriller film co-written and directed by Mani Ratnam who produced it with Ram Gopal Varma and Shekhar Kapur. Set against the backdrop of Insurgency in Assam, the film stars Shah Rukh Khan and Manisha Koirala, while Preity Zinta makes her film debut in a supporting role.
"Chaiyya Chaiyya" ("[walk] in shade") is an Indian pop-folk song, featured in the soundtrack of the Bollywood film Dil Se.., released in 1998.Based on Sufi music and Urdu poetry, [1] the single was derived from the lyrics of the song "Tere Ishq Nachaya", written by Bulleh Shah, with music composed by A.R. Rahman, written by Gulzar, and sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Sapna Awasthi.
She is also the only female lyricist to have multiple nominations ever and also in a single year. She has five of total nine nominations by female songwriters in history. The other two female lyricists nominated are Rani Malik for "Dheere Dheere Se" from Aashiqui (1991) and Anvita Dutt for "Gulaabo" from Shaandaar (2016).
Karan Johar's directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai led the ceremony with 18 nominations and 8 wins – including a sweep of the major acting categories, a record it held till Gully Boy (2019). Mani Ratnam 's Dil Se.. and Ram Gopal Varma 's Satya were the other big winners, with 6 awards each.
