TAMPA, Fla. - As Hurricane Milton barrels toward Florida, many Tampa Bay Area residents are preparing to evacuate. Milton is expected to make landfall in Florida as a Category 3 storm on Wednesday. The NHC says the risk of life-threatening impacts is increasing for parts of the west coast.
FOX 13 Meteorologists say Helene is forecast to reach Category 4 strength before it makes landfall in Florida’s Big Bend area on Thursday. It continues to move across warm Gulf waters as a Category 1 hurricane after reaching hurricane strength Wednesday morning.
The storm is forecast to strengthen and bring the risk of life-threatening impacts to portions of the west coast of Florida next week, according to the NHC. There is a spread in models from Florida’s Big Bend to south of the state, but most consensus tracks the storm towards Tampa Bay.
