Line-delimited JSON can be read by a parser that can handle concatenated JSON. Concatenated JSON that contains newlines within a JSON object can't be read by a line-delimited JSON parser. The terms "line-delimited JSON" and "newline-delimited JSON" are often used without clarifying if embedded newlines are supported.
It specifies where it would be OK to add a line-break where a word is too long, or it is perceived that the browser will break a line at the wrong place. Whether the line actually breaks is then left up to the browser. The break will look like a space - see soft hyphen below when it would be more appropriate to break the word or line using a ...
Newline inserted between the words "Hello" and "world" A newline (frequently called line ending, end of line (EOL), next line (NEL) or line break) is a control character or sequence of control characters in character encoding specifications such as ASCII, EBCDIC, Unicode, etc.
Line continuation – escapes a newline to continue a statement on the next line Some languages define a special character as a terminator while some, called line-oriented , rely on the newline . Typically, a line-oriented language includes a line continuation feature whereas other languages have no need for line continuation since newline is ...
Most often, ending a line with a backslash (immediately followed by a newline) results in the line being continued – the following line is joined to the prior line. This is generally done in the lexer: The backslash and newline are discarded, rather than the newline being tokenized. Examples include bash, [6] other shell scripts and Python. [7]
Unix-like operating systems can still use it as the erase character, i.e., to delete the previous character in the line mode. The terminal driver still cannot be programmed to take both this and Backspace: one must be chosen. However, most modern programs bypass this and use libraries such as readline which accepts both codes.
For example, PHP and Python allow this optional parameter, while Pascal and Java do not. With Common Lisp's string-trim function, the parameter (called character-bag ) is required. The C++ Boost library defines space characters according to locale , as well as offering variants with a predicate parameter (a functor ) to select which characters ...
For example, in Python, to print the string Hello, World! followed by a newline, one only needs to write print ("Hello, World!" In contrast, the equivalent code in C++ [ 7 ] requires the import of the input/output (I/O) software library , the manual declaration of an entry point , and the explicit instruction that the output string should be ...
