La Crescent (/ l ə ˈ k r ɛ s ə n t / lə KRESS-ənt) [6] is a city in Houston and Winona counties in the U.S. state of Minnesota.The population was 5,276 at the 2020 census. Lock and Dam No. 7 is a lock and dam located on the Upper Mississippi River at river mile 702.5 near the cities of La Crescent, Minnesota and Onalaska, Wisconsin. It forms pool 7 and Lake Onalaska. The facility was constructed in the mid-1930s and placed in operation in April 1937. It underwent major rehabilitation from 1989 through 2002.
The Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps was founded in 1964 by Frank Van Voorhis and David Dummer. In its first year, there was only a color guard, but soon the color guard merged with the Apple Arrows Drum and Bugle Corps of La Crescent, Minnesota to become the Blue Stars. The Blue Stars took to the streets in 1965 as a competitive parade corps.
