Kennedy Lake is the largest lake on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. [1] Located north of Ucluelet on the island's central west coast, the lake is formed chiefly by the confluence of the Clayoquot and Kennedy Rivers. Outflow is via a short stretch of the Kennedy River into Tofino Inlet.
Tofino (/ t ə ˈ f iː n oʊ / ⓘ tə-FEE-noh, Nuu-chah-nulth: Načiks) is a town of approximately 2,516 residents on the west coast of Vancouver Island in the Canadian province of British Columbia. The District of Tofino is located at the western terminus of Highway 4 on the tip of the Esowista Peninsula at the southern edge of Clayoquot Sound.
In October 2018, it was announced that the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard would be reorganized into four operational regions with the creation of a new Arctic Region; this transition to four regions was completed in April 2021.
The fishing methods employed fall under the category of artisanal fishing. They employ low-technology, traditional fishing techniques like net-fishing, stone-fishing and weir fishing. The five species of Pacific salmon found in British Columbia waters are Sockeye, Pink, Chum, Coho, and Chinook.
Two other common access points are recommended, and maps are provided on the BC Parks web site: Little Andrews Bay Provincial Park and Wistaria Provincial Park. [3] Burns Lake, B.C. is considered to be the northern gateway for fly-in tours for sightseeing, hunting and fishing; these are offered by local outfitters in the town. [4]
The most prominent of these guides, Frank Kibbee, started setting up trap lines in the area in 1900 [7] and built a home on the shores of Bowron Lake in 1907. [8] He was the longest-operating and most renowned guide in the region, and one of the lakes in the chain – Kibbee Lake – is today named after him.

Kennedy Lake Provincial Park is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada located on the SW side of Kennedy Lake, SE of Tofino, British Columbia [2] adjacent to the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. The park has day use facilities only. [3]
