The Laser Standard or ILCA 7 is a popular one-design class of single-handed sailing dinghy, originally built by Performance Sailcraft Canada. The laser is cat rigged , with a single mainsail and is a simple, light and fast boat to sail.

The Masters ILCA World Championships, until 2020 the Laser Masters World Championships, is an annual international sailing regatta for Laser (dinghy), they are organized by the host club on behalf of the International Class Association and recognized by World Sailing, the sports IOC recognized governing body.
The ILCA 7 competition of the sailing events at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago was held from October 28 to November 4 at the Cofradia Nautica del Pacifico. Points were assigned based on the finishing position in each race (1 for first, 2 for second, etc.).

A smaller sail plan for the Laser, the Laser 4.7 or ILCA 4, was developed about a decade after the Laser Radial. The sail area was reduced by 35% from the Standard (from 7 to 4.7 square metres (75 to 51 sq ft)) with a shorter, pre-bent bottom mast section, allowing even lighter sailors to sail it. The same formula as the Radial is kept.
