Christopher Allen Lloyd (born October 22, 1938) [1] is an American actor. He has appeared in many theater productions, films, and television shows since the 1960s. He is known for portraying Emmett Brown in the Back to the Future trilogy (1985–1990) and Jim Ignatowski in the comedy series Taxi (1978–1983), for which he won two Emmy Awards.

Lloyd-Pack was born in 1944 in Islington, London, the son of actor Charles Lloyd-Pack (1902–1983) and Ulrike Elisabeth (née Pulay, 1921–2000), an Austrian Jewish refugee who worked as a travel agent. [3] [4] His uncle was George Pulay, one of the secret listeners to German POW in Trent Park during World War II. [5]
