Darlington Provincial Park is a provincial park in Ontario, Canada.It is located just south of Highway 401 in the city of Bowmanville.A small park, the topography is dominated by gentle hills formed by a terminal moraine deposited by glaciers at the end of the last Ice Age.
Land at the Darlington Provincial Park was identified as a potential site in the late 1960s, and Hydro purchased the plot in 1971 as an "energy centre". The first official plans to develop the site for nuclear were approved in 1973, apparently at the personal direction of Conservative Ontario premier Bill Davis without discussion by cabinet. [ 7 ]
The area is bounded by Townline Rd. on the west, Hancock Rd. on the east, Pebblestone Rd. on the north and Highway 401 on the south. The swimming lakes at Darlington County Park will only be open on weekends from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through June 30. The lake will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Labor Day, Sept. 2.

It now resides at the park. Martello towers were built in the area to defend the British from American invasion. Inside the park, Cedar Island, a small island visible from downtown Kingston, Ontario, is the site of a Martello tower named Cathcart Tower. The park was established in 1904, the first Canadian national park east of the Rocky Mountains.
