The 2023–24 season was the 78th season in the existence of HNK Rijeka and the club's 33rd consecutive season in the top flight of Croatian football. In addition to the domestic league , Rijeka participated in this season's editions of the Croatian Cup and the UEFA Europa Conference League .
The 2024 Croatian Cup Final was a two-legged affair played between Dinamo Zagreb and Rijeka. [1] [2] The first leg was played on 15 May 2024, and the second leg was played on 22 May 2024. Dinamo Zagreb won the trophy with an aggregate result of 3–1. [3] That was the first two-legged final since 2014. [4]
The club was founded in 1904, with the football team being active at last since 1906, [2] [3] and following the tumultuous political changes that swept the border city of Rijeka in the following decades, it changed its name to U.S. Fiumana in 1926, to S.C.F. Quarnero in 1946, [4] to NK Rijeka in 1954, [5] and finally HNK Rijeka in 1995.

Armada are a football ultras group that support HNK Rijeka.They also support Rijeka's other sports clubs, such as RK Zamet (), VK Primorje EB and KK Kvarner 2010 ().. The name Armada was given in 1987 at a bar in the "Ri" shopping mall in Rijeka, and the first game attended by the Armada was the Final of the Yugoslav football cup against Hajduk Split in Belgrade on 9 May 1987.
