The following is a list of neighborhoods and communities located in the city of San Diego. The City of San Diego Planning Department officially lists 52 Community Planning Areas within the city, [ 1 ] many of which consist of multiple different neighborhoods.
The community was formed by the City of San Diego on February 1, 1975. [13] The construction later began in 1983 as farms were replaced by residential communities. The community is bordered to the north by Fairbanks Ranch and Rancho Santa Fe, to the south by Del Mar Mesa, to the east by Torrey Highlands, and to the west by Carmel Valley. State Route 56 (Ted Williams Freeway) passes through this community. 1,300 acres (49 percent) of this community is preserved as natural habitat. [6]

It is generally bounded by Imperial Avenue to the north, California State Route 15 to the east, Interstate 5 to the south, and 28th Street to the west. Major thoroughfares in the neighborhood include Commercial Street, Oceanview Boulevard, and National Avenue.
