In July 1989, the Henshaw Sanctuary was created with the sale and donation of the unsold portions of the subdivision by Mr. H. Marsh Henshaw, III, of Sulphur. Subsequent additions of several undeveloped lots came in August 1990 and February 1992. [2] In 1993, 27 acres were added on the north side reaching up to La. Hwy. 82. [2]

Carville is a neighborhood of St. Gabriel, located in Iberville Parish in southern Louisiana, sixteen miles south of Baton Rouge, on the Mississippi River.Best known as the childhood hometown of famed political consultant James Carville, it is also known for its sixty-five-year history as the only place in America to treat leprosy until outpatient treatment became viable in 1981.
The community is located on U. S. Route 190 5 mi (8.0 km) southeast of Mandeville and 3.5 miles northwest of Lacombe. [2] The Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge lies along the coast of Lake Pontchartrain south of the community between Mandeville and Slidell. Fontainebleau State Park is located in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain.The park is 2,800 acres (1,100 ha) in size and was once the site of a sugar cane plantation and brickyard operated by Bernard de Marigny and later by his son Armand Marigny.
