It added to the game the ability for the player to depart their starfighter and join in on a land battle as well as enter into land vehicles such as an Imperial AT-AT and AT-ST during certain missions.

It was published by LucasArts and released as a launch title for the GameCube in North America on November 18, 2001, Europe on May 3, 2002, and Australia on May 17, 2002.
Besides the main events, a Disney XD crossover event known as Summer Camp (2015) included a virtual prize of the Star Wars Rebels character, Chopper, in the form of a tiny shoulder pal. The event also included promotional billboards of the Star Wars Rebels TV series in the maps of the events’ respective games.
