Oak Hill is a village in Jackson County, Ohio, United States, located approximately a 35 mile drive north of Ashland, KY and 42 mile drive southwest of Chillicothe, Ohio. The population was 1,407 at the 2020 census .

State Route 279 (SR 279) is a 20.11-mile-long (32.36 km) east–west state highway in the southern portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. The western terminus of SR 279 is at a T-intersection with SR 139 nearly 5.25 miles (8.45 km) northwest of South Webster.
State Route 140 (SR 140) is an east–west state highway in the southern portion of the U.S. state of Ohio. The highway has its western terminus in Portsmouth at a diamond interchange with U.S. Route 52. Its eastern terminus is at State Route 93 approximately 2.75 miles (4.43 km) south of Oak Hill. State Route 140 first appeared in the mid-1920s.
At a length of 234 miles (377 km), it is the third longest state route in Ohio. The route from Ironton to West Lafayette was once signed as State Route 75. In 1962, to eliminate confusion with an interstate in Ohio having the same number, State Route 75 was replaced by State Route 93 which had previously terminated in West Lafayette.
Oak Hill High School (OHHS) is a public high school in Oak Hill, Ohio, United States.It is the only high school in the Oak Hill Union Local School District. The high school and elementary school are both located just north of the city limits on Route 93.

At the turn of the twentieth century, Oakwood was primarily farmland situated on a hill directly south of the City of Dayton. In 1913, when a disastrous flood devastated downtown Dayton (the Great Dayton Flood), advertising began to tout Oakwood property as "275 feet higher than the intersection of Third and Main Streets."
