York Technical College (York Tech) is a public community college in Rock Hill, South Carolina. It is part of the South Carolina Technical College System and one of three colleges in the city of Rock Hill. York Tech was established in 1964 and presently serves York, Chester, and Lancaster counties.
Universal Technical Institute was founded in 1965. UTI expanded its programs with additional curricula and opened new campuses, growing internally and through acquisitions. To address the needs of industry and corporate clients, UTI started providing continuing education and training for technicians in 1980.

College credit may be available to any student for prior instruction outside formal academic circumstances, such as military training or job-based technical training, and for life-experience learning. It is not possible to cobble together transfer credits, prior instruction credit, and life-experience credit alone to obtain a degree, however.
