Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Ecuador (PUCE) - Sede Ambato "La Catolica" is a branch of Quito's Catholic University. The Ambato campus was created on January 13, 1982, by the bishop of Ambato, Monseñor Vicente Cisneros. The university wasn't completed until 1994 when classes first began.
