The Alabama Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 131st Aviation Regiment's "B" Company is also located at the airport. In August 2020 it was announced that the Mobile Airport Authority will shift commercial airline flights to the more convenient Mobile Downtown Airport, now renamed Mobile International Airport. [6]
