The Southeastern Conference (SEC) is an American college athletic conference whose member institutions are located primarily in the South Central and Southeastern United States. Its 16 members include the flagship public universities of 12 states, three additional public land-grant universities , and one private research university.
The Southeastern Conference Academic Consortium in Birmingham, Alabama is a program initiated by the Southeastern Conference for its member institutions to collaborate on academic and scholastic efforts. [1] The consortium was established in 2005 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. [2]

Greg Sankey (born August 3, 1964) [1] [2] is an American athletics administrator who has served the commissioner of the Southeastern Conference (SEC) since 2015. He was previously employed by the SEC for 13 years in various capacities under commissioner Mike Slive. Prior to that, he was the commissioner of the Southland Conference.
