The se'ah or seah (Hebrew: סאה sə’āh), plural se'im, is a unit of dry measure of ancient origin found in the Bible and in Halakha (Jewish law), which equals one third of an ephah, or bath. In layman's terms, it is equal to the capacity of 144 medium-sized eggs, or what is equal in volume to about 9 US quarts (8.5 litres). [1]
The maris was defined as being the quantity of water equal in weight to a light royal talent, [4] and was thus equal to about 30.3 L (8.0 US gal), [3] making the omer equal to about 3.64 L (0.96 US gal). The Jewish Study Bible (2014), however, places the omer at about 2.3 L (0.61 US gal). [5]
The omer, which the Torah mentions as being equal to one-tenth of an ephah, [30] is equivalent to the capacity of 43.2 eggs, or what is also known as one-tenth of three seahs. [31] In dry weight, the omer weighed between 1.560 kg to 1.770 kg, being the quantity of flour required to separate therefrom the dough offering. [32]
Weight is measured in ounces and pounds (avoirdupois) as in the U.S. Volume is measured in imperial gallons, quarts, pints, fluid ounces, fluid drachms, and minims. The imperial gallon was originally defined as 10 pounds (4.5359 kg) of water in 1824, and refined as exactly 4.54609 litres in 1985.

Many people feel better after several hours, but it is not uncommon for symptoms to persist for 24 to 48 hours. In most cases, symptoms resolve on their own without needing a doctor's visit.
It was divided into 12 Roman ounces. Sometimes the word libra was used together with the word pondo "in weight", e.g. libram pondo "a pound in weight" (Livy, 3.29); but often pondo was used alone; e.g. auri quinque pondo "five (pounds) in weight of gold" (Cicero, pro Cluentio 179). Hence the word pondo by itself came to mean "pound(s)". [25]
