Black Oak Arkansas is an American Southern rock band named after the band's hometown of Black Oak, Arkansas. The band reached the height of its fame in the 1970s, charting ten albums. [ 1 ] Their style is punctuated by multiple guitar players and the raspy voice and on-stage antics of vocalist Jim "Dandy" Mangrum .
As of 2011, Mangrum continues to record and tour with a series of different Black Oak Arkansas lineups. [ citation needed ] The band released Back Thar N' Over Yonder on Atlantic Records in 2013, which featured a 2013 reunion of former band members as well as unreleased tracks from the heyday of the band in the 1970s.
