The University of Cebu (UC; Cebuano: Unibersidad sa Sugbo; Filipino: Pamantasan ng Cebu) is a private, non-sectarian, coeducational basic and higher education institution in Cebu City, Philippines. It was founded in 1964 offering preschool, grade school, junior & senior high school, undergraduate degrees, and post-graduate degrees.
In 1973, courses offered were recognized by the Bureau of Private Schools. In 1976, pursuant to Department Order No. 23, the two-year General Radio Communication Operator course was offered to meet the international standard for overseas employment, to which the Philippines was committed under the Geneva Convention.
On June 18, 1908, the University of the Philippines was established through an act of the First Philippine Legislature. Act No. 1870, otherwise known as the "University Act", specified the function of the university, which is to provide advanced instruction in literature, philosophy, the sciences and arts, and to administer professional and technical training.
