Manistee County (/ m æ n ɪ s t i / man-iss-TEE) is a county located in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2020 census, the population was 25,032. [2] The county seat is Manistee. [3] The county is named for the Manistee River. Manistee County is part of Northern Michigan and has a shoreline on Lake Michigan.
Parkdale is an unincorporated community in the southwest part of the township, on the northern edge of Manistee Lake where the Manistee River enters the lake. It is at 44°16′03″N 86°18′10″W / 44.26750°N 86.30278°W / 44.26750; -86.30278 on US 31 , near the junction with M-55 on northern boundary of the Manistee city limits

In 1953, a county road was built along the path of the future M-115 between Mesick and Cadillac. [ 16 ] [ 17 ] This road was designated as a state highway by 1957, with a connection along Boon Road north of Cadillac and a concurrency along US 131 to close the gap in 1957.
The township occupies the northwest corner of Manistee County, with Benzie County to the north, Wexford County to the east, and Grand Traverse County touching its northeast corner. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.1 square miles (93 km 2), of which 0.08 square miles (0.21 km 2), or 0.23%, are water. [1]
