After a few Dream House albums had been released the band changed its name to Press Play and in 2008 they caught the attention of Universal Record's A&R executive Rhoda Lawrence, she signed them immediately after hearing them. Hanley started a new record label called Dream Records which became an imprint of Universal.
By age 18, he released two independent projects. After moving to Raleigh-Durham, NC in 2011 he released a mixtape called SMPLFY resulting in signing with Sony/Provident's Essential Records. [2] On April 21, 2017, Murphy released his first single on Sony, "All the Wrong Things."
His self-titled album Coffey Anderson released on September 28, 2010 on Coffey Entertainment / Dream Records / Universal entered the Billboard 200 at No. 134. Five of his eleven albums are general albums: Southern Man (2008), Me and You (2008), Coffey Anderson (2010), Boots & Jeans (2012), This Is Me (2016) and Country Style (2018).
