Yocco's was originally established in 1922 at its former location at 625 Liberty Street in the center city section of Allentown. Its original name was the Liberty Grill. From the 1970s through the end of the 20th century, Yocco's opened five additional restaurants in Allentown and its suburbs.
Built between 1926 and 1927, it is a 13-story yellow brick building located 541 West Hamilton Street in Center City Allentown. [2] The hotel has a classic 1920s Jazz Age design and was built by a group of Allentown businessmen who wanted to erect a first-class hotel in Center City Allentown, the city's central business district. [3]
In 2016, Yocco's Hot Dogs, a regionally famous Emmaus-headquartered hot dog and cheesesteak restaurant chain with four Lehigh Valley locations, opened a restaurant in South Mall. [ 16 ] [ 17 ] In January 2017, Black Rose Antiques relocated its South Mall location to Phillipsburg Mall in nearby Phillipsburg, New Jersey . [ 18 ]
Before opening his own restaurant, Papa learned the trade from Joe's Tomato Pies, which opened in 1910, and closed in the late 1980s. [ 1 ] A few years after opening, it moved to Butler Street [ 2 ] and in 1945, the restaurant moved to 804 Chambers Street where it would remain until 2013.
