Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) is a school district that runs the public school system of Hillsborough County in west central Florida and is headquartered in Tampa, Florida, United States. It is frequently referred to as the School District of Hillsborough County (SDHC). The district serves all of Hillsborough County. [4]
It is one of the four high schools in the county that offers the International Baccalaureate diploma program. The school was established in 1959 and is named after Thomas Richard Robinson, an educator in Hillsborough County [3] who began teaching in 1917. Robinson High School is the smallest high school in Hillsborough County.
By 1967, the school board decided that its location no longer met modern educational requirements and the first Jefferson High School was closed. Upon closure of the school, students were sent to neighboring schools to complete their education. The original Thomas Jefferson High School building still exists today as the D.W. Waters Career Center.
