(Reuters) -The S&P 500 and the Dow hovered at levels seen more than a week ago on Friday, as investors took comfort from data pointing to robust economic activity in the world's biggest economy.
The index, as well as the Dow and Nasdaq, had pulled back from record levels by the end of Tuesday's regular trading day, and the S&P 500 remains less than 0.5% from its all-time high.
The contract was introduced by the CME on September 9, 1997, after the value of the existing S&P contract (then valued at 500 times the index, or over $500,000 at the time) became too large for many small traders.
