On January 3, 2022, 911 reported that 66-year-old Sheila Fletcher and her husband, Clay Fletcher, had found their 36-year-old daughter Lacey Ellen Fletcher dead on their couch. It was revealed that for at least 12 years, Lacey Fletcher had been neglected by her parents after becoming unable to leave her house due to a cognitive health decline.
Sheila eventually overcomes her agoraphobia and continues to spend a great deal of her time with Frank. Toward the end of Season 2, Sheila meets Frank's mother Peggy, and the two initially despise each other. Peggy is then diagnosed with terminal cancer, and moves into Sheila's home after starting a fire in the Gallagher's basement from a meth lab.

Sheila and Jody (Zach McGowan) take care of Peggy as her condition starts to worsen. Sheila and Peggy reconcile in the process, and Peggy reveals her intentions to send money to each of Frank's brothers; however, she refuses to give any to Frank. Wanting to hasten her own death, Peggy convinces Sheila to smother her with a pillow.
They are visited by Timmy Wong (Albert Kuo) and his mother, who want to take Hymie to live with them. Despite Jody protesting, Sheila realizes she has an unfit home for a baby and reluctantly decides to give Hymie back to the Wong family.
