St. George Regional Airport (IATA: SGU, ICAO: KSGU, FAA LID: SGU) is a city-owned airport in St. George, Washington County, Utah. [1]The airport opened on January 13, 2011, a replacement for smaller land-locked St. George Municipal Airport, atop a mesa in the city, which was declared unsuitable for expansion.
Great Lakes Airlines returned on January 6, 2008, operating under their own identity with two daily Beechcraft 1900Ds to Denver International Airport. [12] Daily nonstop flights were later added to Vernal, Utah, Ely, Nevada, and Prescott, Arizona, as an extension of its Denver service. Great Lakes ended service to Moab in January 2014.
In June 2011, Frontier Airlines began daily flights to Denver. Salt Lake City International Airport (about 40 miles (64 km) north) is the closest airport with numerous flights. (SkyWest Airlines flew to Provo in 1974–1975.) [6] Frontier's flights to Denver ended in January 2013. [7]
