Gowri (Telugu: గౌరి) is a 2004 Indian Telugu-language action film directed by B. V. Ramana. [1] [2] It stars Sumanth and Charmme Kaur in the lead roles, and was produced by Sravanthi Ravi Kishore. It is a remake of the 2003 Tamil Blockbuster film Thirumalai, starring Vijay and Jyothika. [3]
The film was initially titled Gauri, but was later changed to Gowri. [5] Despite the similarity in names, the film has no connection to director Indrajit Lankesh's sister, Gauri Lankesh. The film begins with a King having two wives. The elder Satyavati is an ardent devotee of Parvati and names her daughter Bala Gauri. The second Satyabhama begrudges and poisons the two when Satyavati dies, but the goddess secures Gowri. Years roll by and Gauri is raised with the same adoration for the goddess.
