The Illinois State Fair mile currently hosts the Allen Crowe Memorial 100 ARCA stock car race, USAC Silver Crown dirt cars, UMP Late Models and Modifieds and the A.M.A. Grand National Championship. The only driver who has won races in three disciplines of racing in Ken Schrader who won in ARCA cars (1998), UMP Modifieds (1998), and midgets. [2]

In 1935, IL 31 was superseded by US 24 while IL 43 was superseded by parts of IL 122 and IL 120. In 1939, a part of Illinois Route 10 (IL 10) moved its western terminus from Decatur to Keokuk, Iowa. This caused the relocation of IL 98 from Adair–Duncan Mills route to its present-day routing. This also caused IL 9 to relocate northward.
IL 9 was established in 1918 as one of the original 46 State Bond Issue Route (SBI) routes. The routing of IL 9 has had two major changes since its establishment. The original western terminus was in Hamilton, at the old Keokuk Rail Bridge completed in 1916 and then proceeded east through Carthage and Macomb (county seats of Hancock and McDonough counties), 9 miles (14 km) east of Macomb ...
